FAWONE Awards Scholarships to Outstanding Fako Students
On Saturday, August 31, 2024, the Buea Council Hall buzzed with excitement as FAWONE hosted the 2nd edition of its Scholarship Award Ceremony, recognizing academic excellence among students in the Fako Division. This year, 101 students who performed exceptionally well in the GCE examinations were honored and awarded scholarships.
The scholarship program is one of FAWONE’s key educational initiatives, aimed at encouraging academic excellence and reducing financial burdens for high-performing students. By focusing on merit, the association hopes to motivate more youth to pursue education with passion and commitment.
During the event, parents, teachers, and local dignitaries applauded the effort. “These children are not just our future — they are our present. Supporting them now sets the tone for a better Fako,” one speaker noted. The beneficiaries, both boys and girls, expressed heartfelt gratitude and promised to continue making their families and communities proud.
Beyond just awarding financial assistance, FAWONE used the platform to speak on the importance of peace, discipline, and education, especially for the girl child. The association encouraged students to explore fields such as science, agriculture, and technology — echoing their broader mission of holistic development.
