The Yaoundé Chapter of the Fako Women and Friends Association (FAWONE) has officially launched its “Back to School” initiative, a gesture aimed at supporting children in Fako Division as they prepare to return to school this academic year.
Held under the banner “Back to School for Our Children and IDPs”, the initiative is designed to ease the burden of parents while giving hope to children—especially Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)—through the provision of school supplies and essential learning materials.
Supporting Education, Building the Future
According to the organizers, the gesture is not just about handing out books and bags; it is about reinforcing the importance of education as a foundation for personal growth and community development. By providing children with the tools they need, FAWONE Yaoundé seeks to empower the next generation to dream bigger, learn better, and build brighter futures.
Speaking at the launch, chapter members highlighted the urgent needs of children in Fako, many of whom face socio-economic challenges that threaten their access to quality education. “This is our own way of giving back and making sure no child is left behind,” one member said.
What the Initiative Offers
Through the program, FAWONE Yaoundé is distributing bags, books, pens, pencils, and other essential supplies. Beyond donations, the initiative also encourages community involvement—calling on members of the public to donate, volunteer, or contribute financially to extend the impact.
The gesture is deeply rooted in FAWONE’s broader mission of fostering solidarity, social responsibility, and empowerment within communities.
A Call for Collective Action
The launch of this initiative is a reminder that investing in education is a collective responsibility. FAWONE Yaoundé is urging partners, friends, and the wider public to support their mission, whether through material donations or hands-on volunteer work.
As schools prepare to reopen, hundreds of children in Fako will step into classrooms with renewed confidence, carrying not only their new school materials but also the assurance that their community believes in their future.
A great and wonderful gesture. We pray for more projects that will impact the lives of our community.
